Progress in integrating a gender perspective into constituted body processes

1. COP 25 adopted the enhanced Lima work programme on gender and its GAP,took note of the first synthesis report on progress in integrating a gender perspective into constituted body processes,2 which indicated that an increasing number of UNFCCC constituted bodies were reporting on gender, and encouraged the constituted bodies to continue strengthening their efforts in this area. It requested all constituted bodies to continue to include in their regular reports information on progress towards integrating a gender perspective into their processes.

2. COP 25 also requested the secretariat to continue preparing biennial synthesis reports on progress in integrating a gender perspective into constituted body processes.

3. The objective of the GAP priority area on coherence is to strengthen the integration of gender considerations into the work of the constituted bodies, the secretariat and other United Nations entities and stakeholders in order to ensure consistent implementation of gender-related mandates and activities. In this regard, the secretariat was requested to prepare a compilation of good practices for integrating gender into constituted bodies’ work6 and to host at SB 58 a dialogue among the Chairs of the constituted bodies on progress in integrating a gender perspective into their processes.

4. COP 26 took note of the second synthesis report on progress in integrating a gender perspective into constituted body processes8 and of their efforts to institutionalize such integration in their work, and encouraged the constituted bodies to continue to strengthen their efforts in this area and promote coordination and coherence in the context of this work. COP 27 noted with appreciation the work of the constituted bodies in advancing gender equality and the empowerment of women and contributing to the implementation of the GAP, including at the national level, and invited the constituted bodies to enhance their implementation of the GAP
